Madhavrao
Jivajirao Scindia is the scion
of the royal family of Gwalior. He
received his higher education at Winchester
College, England. After having distinguished
himself at the hallowed portals of
oxford University, he returned to
serve the people of his homeland,
representing their interests in parliament
He has shown exemplary dedication
and devotion to his constitutional
role as a member of the Lok Sabha
from 1971 till date. He has held the
charge of Union Minister for railways
from December, 1984 till December
1989. Under his dynamic leadership
this ministry achieved unheard of
heights. He has been a member of various
parliamentary consultative committees.
He has led and represented the country
at various confidences abroad and
has had the distinction of being Minister-in-Waiting
to the President of India on his official
visits abroad.
Madhavrao Jivajirao Scindia's keen
interest in sports is legendary. He
is presently the President of the
Board of Control for Cricket in India.
He also heads the Madhya Pradesh Cricket
Association and Madhya Pradesh Wild
life Society. His interest in education
of the youth is also well known. He
is on the board of Governors of various
educational institutions.
Madhavrao Jivajirao Scindia, by his
selfless devotion to the upliftment
of society has established traditions
and set standards for all, thus distinguishing
himself as an Old Boy of Scindia School.
The Scindia School confers on Madhavrao
Jivajirao Scindia the Madhav Award
as an Old Boy of Eminence for the
year 1990.
