Nandan
Kagal has been a journalist
of extremely high repute in India.
Having graduated from St.Stephen's
College in Delhi, he proceeded to
the United states of America to do
advanced studies in chemistry. In
the meanwhile the independence of
the country had already fixed his
imagination and he decided to do journalism
instead. He thus did his graduation
in journalism from the North Western
University,Illinois,USA
Having selected journalism as a career,
he worked with the Scotsman in Edinburgh,
Press trust of India, Assistant Editor
of the Free Press Journal, Assistant
Editor of the Times of India and finally
Resident editor (Delhi) of the Indian
Express from 1965 till his passing
away in 1972.
Nandan Kagal is best remembered as
a journalist who crusaded for causes
which he considered just. He was committed
to honest and sincere journalism and
made it a mission to uphold his views.
He was combated to social causes and
did not hesitated to call a spade
a spade, if he felt strongly about
it.
Nandan Kagal by his services and honest
approach to the profession of journalism
had distinguished himself as an Old
Boy of Scindia School.
The Scindia School confers of Late
Nandan Kagal the Madhav Award posthumously,
as an Old Boy of Eminence for the
year 1989.
