Dr. Paresh
Dandona has been in the medical
profession since 1965. During his
thirty three years in the medical
profession he has specialized in Endocrinology.
After completing his B Sc in Chemistry
from the Allahabad University in 1960,
he did his MBBS from the All India
Institute of Medical Sciences in 1965.
Thereafter he did his MRCP (UK) in
1974, D Phil from Oxford University
in 1975 and FRCP in 1988. He was later
made a FACP and FACC in 1995 and 1996
respectively.
He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship
to study at the Magdalen College in
UK which he attended from 1967-69.
Thereafter he worked in various hospitals
in UK till 1991. Since 1991 he has
been in the USA as the Chief of Division
of Endocrinology and Professor of
Medicine in the State University of
New York and Director, Diabetes -
Endocrinology Center of Western New
York, Millard Fillmore Health System
at Buffalo in USA.
He has been a member of various scientific
and learned societies that include
the British Diabetes Association,
the European Association for the study
of Diabetes, -the American Heart Association,
the International Diabetes Federation
and the International Society for
Hypertension in Blacks.
He has presented a large number of
papers, written numerous articles
and delivered a series of lectures
on prestigious platforms around the
world.
For his research and medical professional
work he has received a number of honours
and awards including the Distinguished
Service Award of the American Diabetes
Association (1993). He ha^ also been
visiting professor at the Universities
of Riyad (1980, 1981) and Jeddah (1983,
1984) and Adviser on Diabetes to the
University of Jeddah.
Paresh Dandona by his dynamism and
dedication has distinguished himself
as on Old Boy of the Scindia School.
The Scindia School confers on Paresh
Dandona the Madhav Award, as an Old
Boy of Eminence, for the year 1997.
