Vijay Kumar
Shunglu has been in the Indian
Administrative Service since 1962.
During his distinguished service of
thirty four years in India's premier
service he has held various assignments
in his allotted state Madhya Pradesh
where he rose to be the Principal
Secretary, Finance and Commercial
Taxes.
During his service he has been seconded
to the Union Government where he has
held various posts in the Ministry
of Commerce, Ministry of Finance and
Cabinet Secretariat. From 1985 to
1990 he was on deputation to the Asian
Development Bank. In 1993 he was promoted
and appointed Special Secretary, Ministry
of Power, Thereafter he was appointed
Secretary, Health & Family Welfare;Secretary,
Industrial Policy & Promotion
and Secretary, Company Affairs.
In 1994 he was alternate leader of
the Indian Delegation to the International;
Conference on Population and Development
held in Cairo in 1994.
Inspite of all his multifarious responsibilities,
Vijay Kumar Shunglu has kept up his
interest in Reading, Bridge and Swimming.
In 1996 he was appointed to the constitutional
position of Comptroller and Auditor
General of India and was sworn in
by the President of India for a five
year term.
Vijay Kumar Shunglu, by his dynamism
and dedication has distinguished himself
as an Old Boy of the Scindia School.
The Scindia School confers on Vijay
Kumar Shunglu the Madhav Award, as
an Old Boy of Eminence, for the year
1996.
