Students
at Scindia School have the opportunity
to learn and take up batik painting
as a hobby. This traditional cloth painting
method by dyeing is today a very popular
art form in South-East Asia and large
parts of Africa. Students are taught
all the various techniques in batik
painting from the elementary outline
waxing to highly advanced methods. There
is an air of healthy competition as
each student tries to outdo his neighbour.
The large number of techniques and the
variations possible using just fabric
dye and wax makes batik a challenging,
yet fulfilling hobby.
