Nanhi Kali

Nanhi Kali

In many parts of India, the arrival of a baby girl calls for mourning rather than celebration. Abandoning them at birth or marrying them off as a child, still is a common practice. Looked upon as a huge economic burden, it is not surprising that many Indian families don't see the point in investing in their education. While enrolment rates of girls are improving marginally in India, dropout levels remain alarmingly high.

The K C Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation support such underprivileged girls to access quality education and material support to attend school with dignity. In 2011, Mr Anand Mahindra chaired the Founder’s Day as the Chief Guest and in his speech, he mentioned about his NGO- Nanhi Kali. Inspired by the inspiring work done by the organization in the field of educating the girl child, the Scindia School adopted 8 girls in 2011-12 to support their education. Four of the staff members also adopted one girl each. Since then, the School has not looked back. Many of our teachers with the support of our students have been working towards the education of underprivileged girls.
