The English Department is the creative Laboratory of The Scindia School. This Department not only prepares students for examinations but also for creative writing, oratory and theatrical excellence. The Department comprises a dedicated team of English teachers of high calibre and immense creative wisdom. Apart from a focused thrust on producing good Board results, the teachers work towards strengthening language skills of the students through various literary activities.

Public Speaking, Dramatics, Reading clubs, website updates, theatre and major school publications are handled by the members of the faculty. The teachers also conduct fun activities and poetry evenings to whet the appetite of the students for the language.

  Dr Smita Trivedi, HOD

  She has a master's degree and a Ph.D. in English. Dr Trivedi has a wide teaching experience ranging from ISC to CBSE schools for over a period of twenty-one years. She has taught Graduate and Post Graduate students as well. With many accomplishments to her credit, she was awarded ‘The Post Graduate Certificate Examination in Teaching of English’ in 2010 conducted by The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, with distinction and grade point of 3.71 out of 4.00.

  Appointed by CBSE as the Master Trainer for Pune Region, Dr Trivedi has played an active role in taking workshops for CBSE schools. As a Department Head, she feels that the goal of true leadership is to nurture a safe learning environment both for the teacher and the taught. Punctuality, grit and determination are her core strengths and she strongly believes that there is no shortcut to success except through hard work.

  She has completed her master's in English and B.Ed from the University of Delhi. Other than academics, Ms Bhagat has interests in dramatics, cultural activities and art. She believes in the holistic development of learners and that every learner is unique in his/her own way. Her idea of education is that co-curricular activities and academics go hand in hand. She integrates lessons with life skills and to enable students to realize their dreams and ambitions, to lead successful and happy lives.

  He has a rich experience of working with an internationally reputed school in Jakarta before joining The Scindia School and he was teaching English Literature & Language in the Middle Year Programme and Diploma Programme. Mr Kaul has a total teaching experience of eighteen years. His keen interest in English theatre and plays prove to be vital in the overall language development of children. He believes in working on quality and excellence through innovation & continuous improvement.

  Mr George Varghese is equipped with a substantial work experience of 32 years and has worked in various institutions such as Bhartiyam Vidya Niketan, Gwalior, Sehwag International School, Jhajjar, St. Francis Inter College, Hathras, UP and Sanjay Ghodawat International School, Kolhapur. He is qualified with a remarkable triple MA in English, Sanskrit and Malayalam, a B.Ed., PGDCA and is a Certified AI Hygiene Practitioner. He is a service-oriented educator with a deep sense of empathy and compassion. He loves to travel.

  Mr Chetan Bhatia has joined the Department of English in 2022. He has a good experience of teaching English in reputed schools of the country. He also has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Education. He is a proactive learner with a flair for adapting emerging trends and addressing industry requirements to achieve organisational objectives and profitability norms. He believes in nurturing students to become effective communicators with excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.

• ‘The Anvil’, a book containing ten stories, all by Scindians was published as a book by the Quill Writer’s Club in 2018.
• Shubham Agarwal, Kshitij Dogra, Yanglem Arjun Singh and Ansh Garg have made us proud by being among the top writers in the national Nanhi Chaan Essay Writing Contests in various years from 2016 to 2021.
• The academic results have shot up by 14% since 2017 and recorded an all-time high aggregate of 92% in 2020.
