Annual Sports Banquet 2016-17

The 22nd Sports Banquet 2016-17 was held on 16th March 2017 at 08:30 PM in the Dining Hall. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Professor Vivek Pandey, I/C Registrar, Department of Exercise Physiology, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Poonam Pandey.
Upon arrival there was a Band Display to welcome the Chief Guest. It was attended by various coaches, teacher incharge of various sports along with captains of various games. Mr. G.S. Bakshi, Director- Alumni Relation was invited as a Special Invitee. The event was also attended by Mr. Naman Saraswat, Director of Sports, Mr Dhirendra Sharma, Dean of Studies, and Bursar, Col. (Retd.) Sanjiv Kaushal. The dignitary who graced the occasion was Dr. Dilip Kumar Dureha, Vice Chancellor, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, (Deemed University) Gwalior.
Professor Vivek Pandey is a renowned name in sports education, research, management and sports administration. He has been a guide and mentor for more than 50 doctorate researches with publications in National and International Journals. Professor Pandey has been teaching graduate and post graduate students for last 30 years. He has been coordinator for Research Lab Development programme, an expert in U.P. Higher Education Service Commission, Member, Board of Studies, Bilaspur University and has been keynote speaker at various National seminars and conferences.
In the field of Sports Training and Coaching, Professor Pandey has trained All India Inter- University medal winning team for Men’s and currently he is Secretary, M.P. Football Federation and President Gwalior Football Association. Professor Pandey has attended International solidarity programme of International Olympic Committee.
To mark the occasion Principal, Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat raised a toast for the Chief Guest. Senior School Prefect, Mriganka Ghosh raised a toast for sportsmen leaving the school. Then a toast was raised by Mahindra Chettri, School Games Captain for the school.
This momentous occasion was in honour of various meritorious boys who got Full and Half Colours in various games. Principal, Dr Saraswat congratulated the winners and said that persistent struggle to strive for excellence is the key to success. A sincere effort in the field of sports will always lead to success.
The august gathering congratulated the boys who represented the school at various State, IPSC and CBSE level and also national players of the school for the session 2016 2017. This year, a record 23 students participated in SGFI National Tournament in various sports categories.
Tayjanveer Singh Boora and Sarthak Talwar of Class XII was awarded the School Sports Blazer for the year 2 0 1 5-1 6. Mahindra Chettri of Class XI was awarded the Sports Blazer for 2015-16. The Cariappa Shield was given to Sarthak Talwar for being the Sports All-rounder of Class XII. The Mahendra Mishra Award for All rounder sportsmen of Class XI was given to Aviral Jain. The Nepal Trophy winners were fondly remembered on this occasion. In all it was a moment of great pride and joy and the evening was appreciated by the winners and achievers along with their mentors.
