The Scindia School was chosen by Microsoft to conduct a workshop (MS Imagine day) for students which aimed at inspiring them and build their confidence to become next generation developers. Microsoft which is one of the world’s leading IT company is also known for its technical initiatives for students and educators all across the world. It has been successfully conducting world’s premier technology competition for students called “MS Imagine Cup”. The workshop was divided into 2 sessions where the first session was used by Mr. Rohit, the trainer, graduated with an engineering degree from college last year, was selected by Microsoft out of 2000 college students in India, in their Student Partner Programme and did an internship with Microsoft. Now he works as a partner of Microsoft representing the company. He has been to 75 Indian schools and colleges in the last 3 months conducting workshops for students. Also he introduced to us a few Microsoft initiatives which help students like us to innovate, participate and compete internationally, like – Microsoft Student Ambassador Programme, Imagine Cup etc. , to introduce students about various initiatives of Microsoft and how they facilitate education and learning process. The key highlight was the world’s smallest CPU called ‘Raspberry pi’. Students enjoyed the session which was very interactive and informative. They also learnt that the ‘Technology is not only for the geeks, but for one and all’. Post this informative session the students were taken to the labs for the hands on exercises on Kodu Game lab (A new visual programming language made specifically for creating games). Students very enthusiastically worked in group and got their doubts clarified through the trainer. This workshop from Microsoft would surely change student’s perception on technical careers as well.
