Scindians Celebrate Independence Day

68 th anniversary of the country's Independence was celebrated on 15 th August 2014. Upon arrival at the Oval field flanked by young horse riders, the Chief Guest, Mr Vikram Misri, an alumnus of Shivaji House-81, was welcomed by the Principal and introduced to faculty members. Mr Vikram Misri is an eminent IFS Officer and currently the Private Secretary to the Prime Minister of India. Mr Vikram Misri unfurled the National Flag as the School Band played the National Anthem. The Chief Guest inspected the parade following which the troops marched past the flag. The Welcome Speech was given by the Principal and it was followed by the Chief Guest’s speech. The patriotic slogan, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed at the Oval field. Throughout the programme the school brass band played various tunes such as My Motherland, Sare Jahan Se Achha, Victory, Morning Noon and Night and Ey Watan Ey Watan. The celebration continued at the Astachal where flowers were offered at Gandhiji’s statue by the Chief Guest, Mr Vikram Misri, Principal, his wife, Vice Principal, Master of Ceremony, Senior School Prefect, Girls ’ Representative and Junior School Representative. A befitting tribute as paid to the freedom fighters through a patriotic song sung beautifully by the students. The Chief Guest felt delighted to return to school after 33 years. A walk through the school a day before made him nostalgic as he silently paid homage to his teachers.
