To, The Principal, The Scindia school, Fort, Gwalior. Respected sir, Regards. I, Dr. Ranjit Chaudhary, along with my brother Dr. Rahul Chaudhary had the good fortune of visiting the school on 23/11/9. We visited our junior houses Dattaji and Kanerkhed. I was in Dattaji house for three years (1984-87) and my younger brother spent one year in Kanerkhed (1993-94). Both of us were in Madhav house in the senior section. My tenure ranged from 1987 to 1993 and my brother’s from 1994 to 2000. It was a very nostalgic experience for both of us and we would like to thank Mr. G.S. Bakshi sir , Mr. Manoj Mishra sir and Assistant house master Dattaji house for their hospitality. I would like to bring to your kind notice that I won the award for being the best in studies (seniors) for the year 1986-87 when I was in Dattaji house under respected madam K. Khar. However when I visited Dattaji house, I found that the honour’s board in Dattaji house (Best in studies/ best in sports) does not have any entries from year 1986-87 to year 1989-90. May I request you to update the data at the earliest. I am furnishing our current details for updating the records at your end: Dr. Ranjit Chaudhary: Completed MCh. (Genitourinary surgery) from B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad in 2007 and working as a Urologist, andrologist and laparoscopic surgeon at Bhopal. Mobile- 09425022670. Dr. Rahul Chaudhary: Persuing M.D. (Dermatology) from B.H.U. (Varanasi), III year, due to complete in May 2010. Mobile: )9415447983. Yours sincerely, Dr. Ranjit Chaudhary.

The Goals I set for myself in a Modern Residential School A Modern Residential School is similar to a factory producing the best future products of a country where, we, teachers are the engineers working with live raw materials .So there is no question of any insincere, casual attitude on the teacher’s part while handling students in a residential school. Parents keep their wards in a residential school for their all round development (physically and mentally) and to train them how to lead a disciplined and a systematic life. Moreover, there are many children who join residential schools from affluent, problematic families. In those cases, they need parental care, moral support and mental peace before education. Residential school is home away from home for the students and the onus of making this home a sweet home, mostly lies on the residential teachers. Extracurricular activities are the back bone of a residential school. Besides imparting knowledge, if we can also guide them in co curricular activities, it helps to come closer to each of the students and they can also confide their minds to us unhesitatingly. Starting from prep duty, remedial classes and invigilation to any school competition excursions, cultural programmes, workshops, exhibitions, multimedia presentations, even in the dining hall, the teacher’s active participation and proper vigilance is needed for all round success of a student. Thus, in a residential school, there is vast scope available for exploring our talents, having our strengths and overcoming our short comings through a continuous teaching-learning process. In addition to our professional growth through rigorous workshops, training sessions and teacher exchange programme. We also grow psychologically by spending quality time in exchanging our ideas and views with our students. So, I am going to negate the proverb ‘Cut your coat according to your cloth by setting my foals for myself in a modern residential school beyond my abilities. By Joyita Ray Chaudhuri
