A two-day workshop, Abhyudaya was held in the assembly hall as part of a transformative initiative aimed at faculty development through a large-scale, whole-system change approach. The workshop leveraged the Large-Scale Interactive Process (LSIP) and Future Search methodologies, fostering a collaborative environment among faculty members and key stakeholders. The goal was to co-create a strategic action plan for faculty development, empowering the school to fulfill its vision of being a leading educational institution that prepares future leaders with global perspectives and strong Indian values. It is an on-going process involving the whole Scindian community in co-creating a preferred future.
The primary objectives of Abhyudaya to collaboratively design a Faculty Development Strategic Plan that aligns with a global educational context and inspire faculty members to take ownership of their development goals.
First day of the workshop began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by an address by the Principal Mr Ajay Singh, wherein he shared the principles of the workshop and introduced the facilitator Mr Saunak Chakrabarty. This was followed by a discussion on the value stories submitted by the faculty and presentation by the stakeholders on what they expect from the school.
The Day 1 activities included the "Express Ourselves – Glads, Sads, Mads" exercise, where participants reflected on and categorized their thoughts and feelings regarding the school across five themes: Professional Growth, Teaching and Learning, Inspiring Leadership, School Culture & Values, and Policies, Systems, and Processes Each group was assigned specific themes to explore "Glads" (positive aspects), "Sads" (areas needing improvement), and "Mads" (frustrations). This exercise enabled participants to voice diverse perspectives and collectively identify core areas for improvement and celebration within the school’s faculty ecosystem.
On Day 2, participants shifted from reflection to action. The day began with a talk by Mr. Harpal Singh on ‘We have a Dream’. The ‘Glads, Sads, Mads’ consolidated sheets were given to the groups. In the group discussions participants outlined Strategic Focus Areas within their assigned themes. Subsequently, these areas were synthesized into Strategic Mind Maps to visualize a collective vision for faculty development.
The final part of the session involved individual and group voting, where participants prioritized focus areas. Voting booths displayed mind maps across the five themes, and each participant cast votes to highlight the most critical points. The collective output helped refine the strategic areas that would shape the Faculty Development Action Plan.
The Abhyudaya workshop successfully engaged Scindia School’s faculty and stakeholders in a transformative experience, creating actionable pathways for ongoing faculty development. The strategies and actions established during this workshop will serve as guiding principles for enhancing faculty engagement, collaboration, and excellence within the school community. Tons of gratitude to our resource person Mr Sounak Chakrabarty for setting the whole Scindian community on the inspiring Abhyudaya journey. Through intermittent energising fun activities, and mindfulness sessions, he kept us focused onto our task.
