Celebrating Independence Day with Zeal and Patriotism at The Scindia School
16 August 2025
The spirit of freedom and patriotism filled The Scindia School as the tricolour was unfurled at the Madhav Pavilion. The occasion was graced by Maj Gen Guljeet Singh Jamwal, AVSM, SM (ex-Vivekanand, 1984), whose nostalgic address reflected deep gratitude to his alma mater. He spoke of the values nurtured at Scindia that had guided his personal and professional journey, and paid tribute to the people who have laid their lives for the country.
Welcoming him, Principal Mr. Ajay Singh highlighted the significance of true freedom. In the changing global scenario, he urged students to embrace challenges with courage and to recognize that independence carries the duty of contributing positively to society. His words served as a reminder that freedom is both a privilege and a responsibility.
The marching contingents of various houses showcased discipline, unity, and pride, symbolizing the collective spirit of the school. The Scindia School Brass Band, with its legacy of marching on Kartavya Path during Republic Day, enthralled the audience. The contingent of the Old Boys of the batch of 1985 marching with youthful energy drew the largest cheers from the audience.
The celebrations continued with patriotic songs and readings at the Astachal, further inspiring the gathering.
In keeping with tradition, the Chief Guest and Old Boys, alongside dignitaries, planted saplings—an enduring gesture of responsibility towards safeguarding the environment for future generations.
The celebration was not only a tribute to the nation’s freedom but also an affirmation of the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens. Independence Day at The Scindia School was a vibrant reminder that the true essence of freedom lies beyond festivity—in living by the ideals of courage, equality, and unity.
