Fulbright TGC Educators Bring Global Perspectives to The Scindia School

The Scindia School had the privilege of hosting two distinguished educators from the United States, Ms. Kristen Embry and Ms. Elena Brown, under the prestigious Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) Program, funded by the U.S. Government through IREX. Facilitated through the School's Fulbright alumnus, Ms. Niharika Kulshresth, the week-long visit, from 17 to 24 July, provided a meaningful platform for cultural exchange, collaborative learning, and global engagement.
During their stay, Kristen and Elena immersed themselves in every aspect of Scindian life. They observed classroom teaching, interacted with students across academic departments, engaged with boarders in the Houses, and shared conversations with faculty members and students in the Dining Hall. Their openness and warmth encouraged lively discussions on education, history, culture, and life in the United States, fostering curiosity and broadening global perspectives among the boys.
A memorable highlight of the visit was their trip to Sonsa Village, adopted by The Scindia School under its community outreach programme. Here, the visiting educators interacted with children at the Government School, creating moments of joy and learning that transcended language and cultural barriers. Ms. Elena Brown delighted the children by teaching them simple dance steps, while Ms. Kristen Embry distributed stickers and enthusiastically interacted with the students. The village children also recited a delightful poem on body parts, making the exchange both educational and heartwarming. The visit reflected the School's commitment to community engagement while demonstrating the universal language of kindness and learning.
The educators also explored the School's unique heritage, including the Fort Biosphere, and experienced the rich traditions that define life at The Scindia School. Throughout the week, they built genuine friendships with students and faculty alike, leaving behind memories that will be cherished by the entire Scindian community.
The visit exemplified the spirit of the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program by promoting intercultural understanding, strengthening educational partnerships, and inspiring students to become globally aware and responsible citizens.
