Ladakh Service Project and Trekking Expedition 2025
14 July 2025
The Scindia School organised the Ladakh Service Project and Trekking Expedition 2025 from 26th June to 11th July. Fourteen students and three escort teachers undertook this enriching journey that combined community service with physical and emotional growth.
The expedition began in Leh, where the team acclimatised to the high-altitude conditions with short treks and cultural visits. The core of the service component unfolded in Sumoor Village, Nubra Valley, where the students worked tirelessly at Lamdon Model School to construct a new UKG classroom. The project involved demanding physical labour—carrying bricks, mixing cement, and constructing a roof at high altitude. Alongside construction, students bonded with local children through games, dance, and academic support, forging deep emotional connections.
Cultural immersion included participation in the Silk Route Festival and visits to monasteries, further enriching the experience. The group also paid homage at the Siachen War Memorial, gaining insight into the lives and sacrifices of Indian soldiers.
The expedition’s second phase was a challenging trek to Wari La Pass. The students braved extreme weather, rugged trails, and freezing nights, demonstrating resilience and teamwork. Despite setbacks, a group successfully completed the final leg amidst snowfall.
The journey concluded with a visit to Pangong Lake and a cultural evening in Leh. The expedition left the students with lasting memories, a sense of accomplishment, and a renewed commitment to service and growth. Special appreciation was extended to Ms Raksha Siriah for her leadership throughout the journey.
