SOBA House

It was indeed a special afternoon for the entire Scindian fraternity at the inauguration of the SOBA House, which drew unparalleled enthusiasm where we witnessed a harmonious union of the school with its alumni. Old Boys, Board Members, Principal, Vice Principal, staff, retired teachers, and well-wishers gathered to take part in the celebration of the inauguration of the SOBA House. Mr Vinay Modi along with Mr RS Pawar inaugurated the new block by unveiling a plaque and lighting the lamp. Following this, all the dignitaries and guests were led into the well-appointed SOBA House to get a feel of the structure, which houses a Common Room, Mini Library, Conference Hall, two suites, eight double rooms and a special 8-bedded dormitory for those who would like to have a complete feel of the camaraderie that they shared during their campus days. The rooms are being named after the legendary teachers who once taught at the school. It also houses the office of the Director-Alumni Relationships. Just before lunch, Vice President of the BOGs, Mr RS Pawar addressed the gathering and thanked all those Old Boys and staff members who contributed to the construction of this beautiful edifice, particularly Mr Ravi Saund, Mr GS Bakshi, Mr Ajaydeep Singh Jamwal, and many others. He informed the audience that a total of 28 persons can be accommodated in this structure, which was called Ravindra/ Jyotiba House till some years back, being a part of the North Block of the School’s campus. An attempt has been made to include the photographs and honour boards of this old House. This had been a long-standing wish of so many of the alumni, and was possible mostly through the efforts of the erstwhile residents of these Houses, who had painstakingly preserved their valuable memories. Conceived in 2013, this project was possible due to the active participation and support of many members of the alumni community. Mr Pawar urged all Old Boys to visit their alma mater, and contribute in any form towards the success of this ambitious project. Mr Vinay Modi also addressed the gathering and shared his views regarding the SOBA House and reminisced about his school days. Mr Saund thanked Mr Vinay Modi for his generous contribution and apprised everybody of the rather ambitious decade-long expansion plans of the school. Responding positively to the Principal’s invitation, Scindians travelled from many cities including Aligarh, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hathras, Meerut, Mumbai, Nagpur, etc. to be present for the inauguration ceremony. Board Members present included Mr Mahesh Gandhi, Mr Rahul Kulshreshtha, and Mr Ravi Saund. Alumni present included Mr Krishan Arora, Mr Banjul Badil, Mr Rajiv Wadhwa, Mr Praveen Bhargava, Mr Gopal Bhargava, Mr Sudhir Mehra, Mr Venkatesh Agrawal, Mr Pawan Gupta, Mr Sandeep Agrawal, Mr Ashish Gupta, Mr Manav Setiya, Mr Virupaksh Kadam, Mr Vishwaraj Singh Kondhera, Mr Anil Atal, Mr Laxman Agrawal, Mr Sachin Deva, and many others.
