English Department is the creative Laboratory of The Scindia School. This Department not only prepares students for examinations but also for creative writing, oratory and theatrical excellence. The Department comprises a dedicated team of seven English teachers of high calibre and immense creative wisdom. Apart from a focussed thrust on producing good Board results the teachers work towards strengthening language skills of the students through various literary activities. Public Speaking, Dramatics, Reading clubs, website updates, theatre and major school publications are handled by the members of the faculty. The teachers also conduct fun activities and poetry evenings to whet the appetite of the students for the language.

Mrs. Smita Trivedi
HOD , English Department
Dr. Smita Trivedi, from the faculty of English, has a master's degree and a Ph.D in English. She has a wide teaching experience ranging from ISC to CBSE schools for over a period of fifteen years. She has taught Graduate and Post Graduate students as well. With many accomplishments to her credit, she was awarded ‘The Post Graduate Certificate Examination in Teaching of English’ in 2010 conducted by The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad with distinction and grade point of 3.71 out of 4.00.
Profusely admired by her students for her hard work and dedication, she has also received a certificate of appreciation by the Government of India for the excellent performance of her students in the CBSE Board Examinations. Punctuality, grit and determination are her core strengths and she strongly believes that there is no short cut to success except through hard work. She believes in creating a stress free environment for learning to happen and tries to strike a balance between intensive and extensive study.

Mr. Saurabh Kaul was working with an internationally reputed school in Jakarta before joining us and he was teaching English Literature & Language in Middle Year Programme and Diploma Programme. He has a total teaching experience of 13 years. His keen interest in English theatre and plays prove to be vital in the overall language development of children. He believes in working on quality and excellence through innovation & continuous improvement.

Ms Sneha Bhagat has completed her Masters in English and B.Ed for the University of Delhi. Other than academics she has interests in dramatics, cultural activities and arts. She believes in the holistic development of learners and that every learner is unique in his/her own way. Her idea of education is that co-curricular activities and academics go hand in hand. She wishes to integrate lessons with life skills and to scaffold each learner to realize their dreams and ambitions to lead successful and happy lives.

Mr. Parash Moni has done his BA Hons. English and B.Ed from the University of Delhi. His expertise in English language teaching along with debating, public speaking, choreography, theatre, recitation and various other media has been instrumental in shaping his understanding of creative pedagogy. Mr. Parash was a young leader from India at the ASEAN Young Leaders Summit held in November, 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the Scindia School, he wishes to contribute to the holistic development of the children and prepare them towards self-actualization in every sense of the phrase.

Mrs. Kirti Srivastava from the faculty of English has master’s degree in Education and English. She has done her B.Ed and has 17 years of teaching experience in various institutions. She is also the proud recipient of an award by “The Times of India” on Teachers' Day in 2008 for her excellence rapport with students. She was a mass communication teacher at IIIT Allahabad and trained the students in the art of facing interviews. Her specialization is teaching grammar to the students preparing for IAS and other competitive examinations. She is associated with IMTP a Chennai based institute which has a track record of proven excellence in preparing students for IELTS and GRE. She represented her state as the best cadet and was sent to OTS Chennai for a special training camp. She has done her “C certificate “ with “AYE grade” and participated in the Republic Day parade in 1998. She has also received the bronze medal under the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
A passionate educator she believes in teaching beyond the planned lessons and endeavours to nurture good human beings.

ACHIEVEMENTS
The Department has introduced the GESE Programme in 2014-15 in collaboration with Trinity College London. It conducts a skill based international English Proficiency Assessment and the certificates are valid for life. The objective of Trinity’s GESE is to develop strong communication skills in English. While preparing for this test, the students learn to make the practical use of English language in a variety of contexts in real life situation now and in their future endeavours.
Mrs Anita Pandey (Faculty of English) has been invited to participate in the GESE (Graded Examination in Spoken English) International Research Project by Department of Linguistics and English Language, Lancaster University, UK.
