DR. SUDHIR S. BLOERIA
Dr. Sudhir S. Bloeria , IAS began his career in the Indian Army having served with distinction in the J & K Rifles. With experience ranging from NEFA in the East, to Fazilka in the West, Dr. Bloeria saw active service during the 1971 war.
Soon after the war, Dr.Bloreria, decided to exchange military service with civil service. He appeared for his Civil Service examinations and was inducted to the Indian Administrative Service in 1972. Dr.Bloeria graduated in the sciences and Mastered in History, acquiring a Doctorate on the battles of Zojila – 1948. He has also been distinguished as a graduate of the National Defence College, New Delhi.
Dr. Bloeria served as the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Principal Secretary to H.E. the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Secretary to Government of Jammu and Kashmir in the departments of Food, Civil Supplies, Transport, Forest, Public Works, Health and Medical Education. He remained Additional Chief Secretary (Home), to the State Government in 1995 and 1996. His Central Government assignments included being a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Director Enforcement in Government of India. Currently he is the Chief Secretary of J&K State a post he has held with dignity and grace since November 2002.
He has written extensively on national security matters including publication of three books - “The Battles of Zojila – 1948”, “Pakistan’s insurgency V/s India’s Security and “The Dying Terrorism”. In essence, treading the path of probity and rectitude, Dr. Bloeria combines the qualities of a soldier, administrator and scholar and has distinguished himself as an Old Boy of the Scindia School. The Scindia School confers upon Dr. Sudhir S. Bloeria, the Madhav Award, as an Old Boy of Eminence for the year 2004.
