6th Edition of The Scindia Model United Nations’ Conference

The 6th Edition of The Scindia Model United Nations’ Conference was held at The Scindia School from 13 April 2024 to 15 April 2024. Twenty schools from all over the country with 200 delegates and twenty-two teacher escorts arrived on the 6th century Citadel to participate in the Conference. The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony, Mr Rajeev Bhadauria, a globally renowned mentor and executive coach, graced the Opening Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Upon arrival at school the Chief Guest was greeted by the Scindia School Brass Band. Thereafter, everybody moved into the Assembly Hall wherein Lakshya Arora, the compere of the programme welcomed the august gathering. The ceremony of lighting the lamp was carried out and divine blessings were invoked. Saraswati Vandana by Aarni Sharma and Aanya Pillai mesmerized the audience and the rendition of ‘Padharo Mahre Desh’ left the audience spellbound. In his speech, The Chief Guest talked about the uniqueness of the event which aims at fostering diplomacy with ‘young perspectives’. He appreciated the contextual relevance of agile, adaptive and audacious orientation of the human mind which alone can save humanity. He urged the students to try to transcend the scarcity mentality with the abundance paradigm. The Principal, Mr Ajay Singh welcomed the Chief Guest and said that he set the tone for the celebration. He thanked the delegates, teacher escorts and the principals of the participating schools for participating in the conference. The committees for the same were: UNSC, UNW, UNHRC, UNFCCC, ICJ, Lok Sabha, CCC, Superhero Conclave and International Press. Following the Ceremony, Committee Session 1 began. After a refreshing afternoon with High Tea, Committee Session 2 started. Post lunch, the delegates visited the Jai Vilas Palace and The Scindia Museum. As the sun set the delegates attended Astachal before proceeding for Committee Session 3. On the Next Day, Sessions 1 and 2 were held. Later the delegates went on a school tour and Nature Walk. They were briefed on ‘Fort Biosphere’ and ‘The Wildflower Meadow’, two great initiatives of the school to preserve the ecology and environment. In the evening the delegates enjoyed ‘Harmony: The Scindian Night’ at the Shukla Memorial Open Air Theatre. Special Dinner was served and after scrumptious meals and snacks, the delegates assembled at the Madhav Pavilion for the Secretary General’s Toast. A ‘Midnight Crisis’ was staged and the delegates were divided into three joint committees to solve it.
The Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony was Mr Suresh Prabhu who joined the community online. He appreciated the students for thinking out of the box and opined that the world can only be saved by people who think. He enlightened the audience on various topics spanned across climate change to the political arena and answered the questions of the delegates. The awards were given by the Principal Mr Ajay Singh; Vice Principal, Ms Smita Chaturvedi; and the Dean of ICT, Mr Rajkumar Kapoor. The Best Delegates awards were given to: Lok Sabha- Navya Gupta, SKV; ICIJ- Ishi Asthana, SKV; UNW- Shreya Dafria, DC; Meeting for Executive of the Big Data Company(MEBDC)- Akarsha Garg, Shishukunj School; FCAWL- Saima Soni, DPS Rau Indore; CCC- Apurva Acharya, Shishu Kunj, Indore; UNSC- Raghav G Rai, Sanskriti School. The trophy for the Best Delegation was lifted by Shishukunj School, Indore. Dr Ruchira Chawla read the Vote of thanks. Rohil Sharma summarized the event report.
