03 September 2024
The Scindia School proudly hosted the AFS India Regional Meet for Central Zone Member Schools from August 30th to September 1st, 2024. Centered around the theme “Conscious Choices - Environmental Awareness and a Sustainable Tomorrow,” the event brought together representatives from 17 schools, including principals, teacher escorts, and two students from each school, united in their commitment to environmental sustainability. The meet was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a mesmerizing Bharatanatyam performance by Aanya Pillai, setting the stage for a meaningful event.
We were honored to have Mr. Rakesh Khatri, known as the 'Nest Man of India,' as our chief guest and keynote speaker. He shared his inspiring journey of building nests for birds and reviving sparrow habitats, leading to the creation of an incredible 758,000 nests. His interactive session encouraged students to think deeply about environmental conservation and the steps we can all take to protect our planet.
Informative sessions led by AFS representatives followed, and The Scindia School shared the impactful activities of their "Fort Biosphere Project," highlighting the school community’s efforts in conservation and biodiversity. A special moment for Class 6 students was an unexpected visit from Mr. Rakesh Khatri, who engaged them with intriguing questions about the local fauna within the Fort area. Adding to the excitement, Mrs. Khatri conducted a hands-on workshop, teaching the students how to build bird nests, making it an enriching and memorable experience. The 1st day concluded with student activities, a band display, and the astachal. All participating schools shared their green initiatives.
The event concluded with an incredible presentation by the Psyx Band! Their captivating performance had the entire audience enthralled and left a lasting impression. In his closing speech, our principal, Mr. Ajay Singh, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the participating schools and AFS India for their enthusiastic participation and outstanding efforts towards green initiatives. He also emphasized the importance of nurturing all five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space—to ensure they prosper and thrive.
