The Scindia School Model United Nations Conference 2019 commenced on 8th November 2019. The event spans over the next two days and will be held from 8th November to 10th November 2019. 8 schools are participating in the event, namely, Sanskar Valley School, Bhopal; Bhartiyam Vidya Niketan School, Gwalior; Welham Boys School, Dehradun; Heritage Girls School, Udaipur; Daly College, Indore; Vantage Hall Girls School, Dehradun; Modern School, Vasant Vihar, Delhi and The Scindia School.
The event started with the lighting of the lamp. Thereafter, the Principal, Dr Madhav Deo Saraswat, welcomed the Chief Guest and emphasized on the importance of dialogue in today’s world. The Chief Guest, Mr Anurag Chauhan, an eminent social worker, talked about the huge issues that threaten the world today- environmental threats for an instance. The Rock Band synergized the ceremony with its melodious notes. A dance sequence on the title ‘War and Peace’ followed next. The Secretary General of SCIMUN, Hriday Soni, welcomed the schools and declared the Conference open. A video was played next, which discussed about the proceedings and agendas to be discussed during the Conference. The Committees ran till 6 pm. In the evening, a comedy show by Mr Nishant Suri, a Stand-up comedian who has won the first season of Amazon Prime's Comicstaan, enthralled the audience. The day’s events came to a close with the dinner for delegates.
The second day of The Scindia School Model United Nations progressed with the delegates preparing the Draft Resolution in their respective committees. The eight committees, namely, United Nations Human Rights Council, United Nations Security Council, United Nations Women, International Atomic Energy Agency, Lok Sabha, International Press, Federation of International Football Association and the United Nations General Assembly, discussed the agendas of the meeting more minutely, compared to the way they had done yesterday. Agendas like- Annexation of Crimean Peninsula, discussing about the Peace Keeping operations (PKO’S), and nuclear agendas and safety issues, were some of the many agendas discussed. The day started with the General Speaker’s list where delegates presented their countries stance on the agendas and the issues. Mr Neel Madhav, the Indian TV Personality, author, mentalist, illusionist and TedEx Speaker entertained the delegates in the Assembly Hall at 7.15 pm in the "Neel Madhav Night". The day ended with a Special Dinner for the delegates.
