On the serene evening of 2nd April, 2025, SMOAT reverberated with soulful melodies as it hosted Sham-e-Ghazal—a celebration of the timeless art of Ghazals. This evocative musical event was curated to introduce students to the depth and beauty of this poetic genre, known for expressing the most profound human emotions through verse and melody.
The highlight of the evening was the presence of Mr. Rajendra Pareek, an eminent Ghazal singer from the prestigious Gwalior Gharana, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The audience was transported through time as renditions of classic Ghazals—popularised by legends like Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Farida Khanum, Ghulam Ali, and Asha Bhonsle—filled the air.
Performances came from all corners of the school community—from the enthusiastic and talented students of Grade 9 to a special presentation by the Principal and our Chief Guest himself, each adding their own touch to the evening’s rich tapestry of sound.
Further enriching the event were two captivating performances by students from Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, whose musical grace added a lovely dimension to the gathering. The ghazals like ‘Salona sa Sajan hai aur main hoon’, ‘Tanha hoga chand’, or ‘Main hawa hoon’, mesmerised the audience.
The event’s success stood as a shining tribute to the meticulous planning and tireless efforts of the Music Department, ably led by Mr. Yogesh Sharma, whose commitment to nurturing musical appreciation among students was evident in every note sung that evening.
