MUN Oxford 2324

13 students from The Scindia School, Fort, Gwalior and one faculty participated in oxford MUN conducted by Oxford university (U.K). Along with our school another 100 students from different school participated in the 10th edition of Oxford university MUN. We reached London on 30th October and we initially stayed in London for a few days. The damp weather of London couldn’t dampen the spirit of students, it was a good exposure to rich cultural heritage of United Kingdom.
The boys went on to see the following places in London a) London Dungeons b) London eye c) London tower d) British Museum e) Winsdor castle f) Madamme Tussad
All these places reflected the rich cultural heritage of the place. Specially the museums provided a great opportunity to understand how the heritage of a place can be documented and preserved for their future generation. On 3rd of November we proceeded for the Oxford university post breakfast. The city of Oxford which more than 1000 years old provided us a visual treat .
The MUN began with the key note address by Natalie Samarasinghe. Natalie is the Global Director of Open Society and the former CEO of the United Nations Association UK. It focused on the gender equality and equal opportunities to all. The MUN sessions were planned in Examination school which was a heritage building .
Their were 13 committees in all and our students got an opportunity to interact with students from 22 countries. In all their were 900 delegates in the Model united nation and it was not only a competitive but a collaborative endeavour. It was always good to see students busy with discussions on their position papers and lobbying to get support in their respective committees.
The Oxford MUN provided the students an opportunity to not only learn but also how to get along with others and accept differences. The committees in MUN were based on Security council , Human right commission , WHO , World economic crisis, Immigration and rehabilitation. The Mun taught us how we must learn to listen to others and also for every problem the best solution is to negotiate and sort out differences mutually.
