The 50th Platinum Jubilee Inter School English Debate and the Inter School Public Quiz

The 50th Platinum Jubilee Inter School English Debate and the Inter School Public Quiz were held at The Scindia School from 24th November 2023 to 26th November 2023. Six renowned schools participated in the event, namely, Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer; Emerald Heights International School, Indore; Vasant Valley School, New Delhi; Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior; Mayoor School, Ajmer and The Scindia School, Gwalior. The demo and Preliminary rounds of the debate were held on the Special Scindia Format 2.0 in which three debates were conducted. In the Semi Final Round, three debates were held in the Asian Parliamentary Format. For the Final Round four schools competed for the coveted trophy on the topic, ‘This House Regrets That Cricket is no Longer a Gentleman’s Game’, held in the British Parliamentary Format. The schools with their roles are: Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya as Opening Government; Mayo College Girls’ School as Closing Government; The Scindia School as the Opening Opposition and Vasant Valley School as the Closing Opposition. The Chief Guest and Chairperson for the Finals was Dr Rakesh Alfred, Former Deputy Headmaster at Punjab Public School, Nabha and presently the Principal of Neoteric World School, Gwalior. An esteemed panel of judges judged the Semis and Finals of the Debate- Dr Om Prakash Budholia, former Professor of English in MP Higher Education Service and former Professor and Head, Dept. of English, School of Language, Literature and Arts, Sanchi University; Dr Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Member of the Board of Studies at Jiwaji University Gwalior and Coordinator for MP Bhoj Open University Centre at KRG College, Gwalior; and Dr Manjoo Singh, Professor of English, Jiwaji University, Gwalior. Vasant Valley School, New Delhi lifted the trophy as Winners and The Scindia School, Gwalior were declared the Runners Up.
The Inter School Public Quiz saw the entire assembly hall jam-packed with an enthusiastic audience. The quiz master was Mr Ajay Poonia(Ex- Shivaji, 2006). He is an exuberant quiz master and an avid quizzer. There were certain questions for the audience too and some of which were answered enthusiastically. The question tested the intelligence of the contestants. The Quiz trophy was won by Vasant Valley School, Delhi and the Runners Up were Emerald Heights International School, Indore. The Principal, Mr Ajay Singh gave away the certificates and the trophy to the contestants and congratulated the participating teams.
